The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has taken steps to start the Shivneri AC service on the Pune-Shirdi route. The decision was taken after a survey undertaken by the MSRTC recently. The officials would now prepare a proposal that will be submitted to the head office. The transport body has already submitted a proposal for starting the Shivneri service on the Pune-Surat route.
At present, the MSRTC operates its Shivneri buses to Dadar, Thane, Borivali, Nashik, Aurangabad, Sangli and Kolhapur.
Shirdi being a pilgrimage centre, the route is always busy. Besides, passengers have for long demanded an AC bus on this route. A basic survey was done by the MSRTC, considering the demands. The survey considered the daily and weekly passenger load on the route and the number of existing bus trips. The recommendations about bus timings and frequency would be prepared based on the survey. An official said, “We would forward the recommendations to the head office.”
The MSRTC’s Pune division recently submitted a proposal to the head office to start the Pune-Surat AC Shivneri bus service. Besides, more such buses have been added for Dadar, Thane and Borivali routes.
Meanwhile, the MSRTC has decided to conduct surprise inspections on Shivneri buses. They will primarily check the buses for seat faults. As per the complaint cell, the MSRTC receives about 30 complaints every day through e-mails. Many are pertaining broken newspaper holders on the seat back and lack of hygiene.
